Staedel Art Museum in Frankfurt

The Staedel is one of the most respected art museums in Germany. Possessing a large collection of 2700 pieces, they only display around 600, (mostly pictures) on 4000 square meters of space, so it is quite a large gallery. I can easily spend hours here! There are sections for Late Gothic, Baroque, Renaissance, the Classics, and then more modern pieces from the 1900's up to today. Wandering around, admiring Botticelli, Picasso, Dürer, or Max Beckman is such a joy. These aren't the only famous artists presented here though, one can see Rembrandt, Degas, Hieronymous Bosch, Courbet, Renoir, Lucas Cranach the Elder, or Veneto to name just a few. Visit the website for the highlights.

Located at Schaumainkai 63, it is very easy to get to.
Opening Hours:
Tues. Fri. & Sun. 10:00 - 18:00
Wed. & Thur. 10:00 - 21:00

Make sure you check the website, as there are lots of special events going happening:  after work get-togethers, kids showing kids art, chamber music, etc. Guided tours in English are also available. Be aware that they do not allow big bags, so you might have to check your purse if it is too big. If you are wearing a coat, it is wise to check it, because they won't let you carry it around in the museum.
