5 Elements Hostel in Frankfurt

The 5 Elements is Frankfurts' coolest hostel. They have taken one of the wonderful, turn of the century buildings in the Hauptbahnhof quarter and renovated it beautifully. It is only a 2 minute walk from the train station, so very easy to find and close to public transportation. Though located on the Mosel Strasse in the red light district, it still feels safe walking there. 5 Elements is rated highly on Trip Advisor and recommended by Rick Steves' in his Germany book

The first time I walked in here, I was amazed at how nicely decorated this hostel was. They have been stylish and quite creative in their use of colors, lights, and furnishings and they have really put a lot of thought into what their guests want and need. I immediately wanted to rent the roof flat or one of the private rooms.

Having been there quite often, I can honestly say all the staff have been very helpful and friendly with the guests, it is always clean, the lobby is full with people on their computers, playing chess, having a coffee or just chatting. Great, chill music is always playing, but not so loud that people cannot chat with each other. They have activities every night of the week, so there is no chance of you being bored or wishing you could meet new friends. Things like Quiz Night, Movie Night, trips over to Sachsenhausen or BBQ in the back yard, are just a few examples. The reception is open 24/7 so no worry about getting locked out. Laundry facilities are available as is internet, a billiard table is in the basement, and they have lockers for your bags. It is non-smoking. Free WLAN is a huge plus point, as is the all you can eat breakfast from 07:30 til 12 for only 4€. They even have laptops to borrow.

A nice feature is that their booking site contains a calendar that will tell you when prices are higher, so that you can book when a big trade fair is not in town. They are pretty busy all the time and though they do try to hold a bed or two open for walk-ins, they recommend making a reservation.

As a guest of the 5 Elements Hostel, you can join the Frankfurt on Foot tours for only 10 euro. Just tell the guide and show us your keycard.

We often ask our tour guests how they like the 5 Elements Hostel and without hesitation, they all say it is one of the nicest hostels they have ever stayed in and usually make a comment about how friendly the staff is.

Oh, and if you are ever downtown and want a delicious "Real Ice Tea" or a "Real Iced Coffee", and I mean without ice cream in it, stop in to the 5 Elements, and indulge yourself in one of these tasty, ice cold drinks. I guarantee you will be back, again and again.
